Frequently asked questions
Does it need mains power or external batteries?
No. It runs on a built-in battery charged via USB-C. The battery lasts about 12–24 months depending on use and weather, and a full charge takes only a few hours.
Do I need to set the release times every day?
No. Switch on Repeat mode and the timer repeats your program automatically. For example, Mode 2 opening times set to 13.00 and 01.00 repeat every day.
Does it withstand frost and humidity?
Yes. All our devices are tested for Nordic winter conditions. We recommend charging the battery before winter.
What is the difference between HayTime Digital and HayTime Mechanical?
HayTime Mechanical is a reliable, affordable basic model with a 12-hour maximum. HayTime Digital times to the minute and has a longer maximum time. If you time hay for different horses with several timers, we recommend the Digital.
How much load can it take?
The maximum load is 3 kg. The timer needs a small pull (load) to release at the set time: on a table without any pull it will not open by itself.
Can the timer be used horizontally?
Yes, as long as it is attached to the mounting rail as instructed and protected from direct rain and snow. It must not be used upside down.
What happens if a horse rushes through a timed gate?
If the timer is pulled too hard and too suddenly, the mechanism opens automatically before greater damage occurs. This does not fully guarantee the timer will not be damaged, but all parts are available as spare parts.
